When it comes to quality photography gear, Hobolites check out all of the boxes for me. I am all about quality, and I can be hard to please with just an okay product.
Ergonomics - super comfortable to hold; aspects like grip, button placement, and weight distribution are well thought out, too. Different accessory attachments and magnet color gels are easy to use and give no headache.
Aesthetics - I can't stress enough about it. Hobolites are super visually pleasing, which makes me display them in my studio as decor whenever I am not using them; seriously, aesthetics play an essential role for us creatives.
Functionality - they considered all the aspects to enhance the gear performance, ease of use, and durability.
Materials - they've selected appropriate materials for construction to balance weight, strength, and durability. And this is a huge factor. Have you ever held a piece of photo gear that feels wacky and performs not as expected?
User Interface - intuitive buttons and controls are user-friendly and easy to navigate, plus all the adjustments are displayed on the LCD screen. I like how simple the temperature control and power output buttons are. Plus, there is an app that you can use to navigate your light from.
Portability - super easy to transport, very lightweight, and oh my, the carry-on cases are as beautiful as the design of the gear itself. Imagine coming to a restaurant shoot looking all slick :) If I were you, I wouldn't spend precious time imagining, but instead, I would try it on in real-time. You will love it, I'm sure!
Professional photographer, I already had 2 Creator Avant Kit and a Creator mini Kit. A new Mini Kit joins them.
Having already used other brands, this is, for me, the best lighting kit available. As well as its performance despite its low 20w, I'm delighted with the range of accessories and its portability.
What's more, the system comes in a superb, very sturdy carrying case. Economical, portable, efficient and beautiful. Truly excellent!
What do I like about Hobolite? Well pretty much everything, I am a very practical photographer who works on film sets and I am drawn to the beauty of constant light, I love searching for beautiful pockets and layers around a subject and Hobolite being a constant light source ticks every box for me in that journey of bringing an image to life.
So lets start with functionality, i'm not the most technologically minded photographer so picking up a piece of photographic equipment and to be able to figure my way around it as quick as my Nikons is imperative.
I turned on my Hobolites and instantly I knew where the settings would be.
Everything is laid out right in front of you and without there being a massive menu system with sub menus of things you will never use.
Straight up, power, colour temp and effects.
When I was told about the app to control them, at first I was like, nah I only need the removable mag screen from the Pro or the the control screens on the Avant and mini.
I had a few minutes before heading to set and I thought well lets see how easy they are to pair.
I couldn't believe how quick and I ended up pairing 4 heads in less than 5 minutes.
Everything about the Hobolite makes perfect sense.
Then of course theres the build, Oh my these are even more beautiful and well engineered than the web page makes them look.
You hold them in your hand and to be honest you just want to keep holding them, you don't want to let them go!
I feel like I have a beautiful 6 x 4x5 camera in my hands.
Seriously you will never find a more beautiful light anywhere, so beautiful my bet is we will see loads of shoots with Hobolites in the frame.
The build of the modifiers and stands are again absolutely stunning, there is nothing that wasn't thought about when the design team got to work on these.
5 stars for me in, in fact in my 30 years as a photographer I have never been so excited about a product!
I am extremely impressed with the quality of the Mini Light. It is compact but very powerfull and has lots of awesome features. The build quality is top level and it comes in a very nice and sturdy travel case. I would give it 6/5 stars if it was possible:)
Nowadays it is worth buying only high-quality and timeless products. Hobolite products are just that. Very high quality, superbly designed and functional in every way. Highly recommended.
